Granddad

"granddad was a legislator. he used to come off
his salmon boat an' live with us while
the legislature was in session. the term
would start in january an' run to mid-april,
just in time for him to get back to his nets
in clarence strait. the city boys used to say
he looked like an eel. an' that he had fish scales
in his hair.
"but the cityboys came an' went an' one day grandpa
was speaker of the house. an' no one said he
looked like an eel. an' no one said he had
fish scales in his hair. an' all the cityboys came
down to metlakatla
an' said they'd always
liked fish."
